The Process

Here’s the scoop:

Brew Your Tea

  • Pour two cups of boiling water over a heaping tablespoon of “Ode” (Poetic Tea’s organic rooibos herbal tea);

  • Add cinnamon and cocoa, stir and let steep until cooled or chill overnight to make smoothies in the morning.

Make Your Smoothie

  • Once rooibos has cooled or has been chilled, strain and add to blender;

  • Add 1/3 cup of sliced almonds and blend until almonds are super finely chopped (alternatively, you can turn the almonds to powder with a mortar and pestle spice grinder);

  • Add two bananas and a cup of ice (unless bananas are frozen) and blend until smooth;

  • Pour into two tall glasses and top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon. Serve immediately. Enjoy!

Pro Tips:

  • If you ever have ripe bananas that you won’t be able to eat before they go bad, peel and freeze them to use in smoothies. The frozen banana will make your smoothies fluffy and you can usually omit ice when you use frozen bananas.

  • This smoothie tends to be thinner than some and settles quickly. It is best enjoyed immediately after preparing.

  • Consider drinking a nice cup of rooibos in the evening and brewing extra to chill for this smoothie in the morning.
