Recipes That Get Right to the Scoop
Get all the benefits of peppermint leaf in your morning (or evening) coffee! This beverage is easy and delicious, festive and warm.
To make one serving (one cup), you need:
1/2 c. strong brewed coffee
1/2 c. boiling water
1 tsp. dried peppermint leaf (Paradelle from Poetic Tea Company)
1/4 tsp cocoa
2 tsp sugar (adjust for preference)
2 tsp cream (adjust for preference)
Here’s the scoop:
Pour boiling boiling water over peppermint and steep for at least five minutes to extract as much flavor as possible.
While your tea is steeping, pour half a cup of strong, hot coffee in a cup and add cocoa powder and sugar. Stir to dissolve.
Strain your peppermint tisane and stir into your coffee.
Top off with a teaspoon of half-and-half and/or whipped cream and enjoy immediately.
Pro tip: Take your brewed peppermint leaves and throw them in a heat-safe jar or infuser bottle with some fresh (or once-brewed) green or black tea leaves. Pour boiling water that has cooled for a minute or two over your leaves and add sweetener as desired. Pop your creation in the fridge to infuse overnight and when you’re ready to enjoy, simply strain, and drink chilled or reheat.
