Creative Green Tea Infusions
Recipes That Get Right to the Scoop
Take the wellness properties of tea to the next level with this energy-inducing, nutrient-packed, low-calorie, sodium-free, antioxidant-rich, cleansing, vegetarian broth.
This recipe uses “Epic”, Poetic Tea’s organic pinhead gunpowder green tea. Epic is a flavorful, smooth, smoky green tea that’s packed with polyphenolic compounds, catechins, and alkaloids giving it outstanding health benefits. This type of green tea has a slightly higher-caffeine content than other green teas (but about a third of the caffeine content in coffee), so keep that in mind before indulging later in the day if you’re sensitive to caffeine.
To make 2 cups of broth:
1 level tbsp of Epic (pinhead gunpowder green tea from Poetic Tea Company)
2 c. boiling water
1/2 tbsp of fresh grated ginger root
2 tsp honey
1/4 of a lime, juiced
sprinkle of cayenne pepper (start small and add to taste)
cilantro garnish
Here’s the scoop:
Preparing Your Broth
Bring two cups of water to a roaring boil and let cool for a minute or two;
Add loose tea, ginger, and honey to a bowl or 16-ounce cup;
Pour slightly cooled, boiled water over your tea leaves and let sit for five minutes;
Strain and add cayenne to taste and top with fresh cilantro.
Making It a Meal
As this broth has an Asian flair, try adding ramen, udon, or rice noodles.
For a healthy and delicious low-calorie addition, try sautéing shredded carrot, diced mushroom, bok choy, diced onion and garlic in a splash of sesame oil and adding to your broth. If needed, add soy sauce and more cayenne pepper to taste.
